مصنف هذا الكتاب هو الشيخ "حسين بن عبد الوهاب" وهو أحد الفطاحل من علماء القرن الخامس، كان مشاركاً للشريفين المرتضى والرضي في بعض المشايخ كأبي التحف المصري وأمثاله، وهو الشيخ الطوسي يرويان عن هارون بن موسى التلعتبري بواسطة واحدة، والمترجم معول عليه في الحديث، وكتابه "عيون المعجزات" من مصادر بحار الأنوار للمجلسي واعتمد علي السيد هاشم البحراني في مدينة المعاجز.
وكان السبب في تأليفه العيون أنه وجد كتاب "بصائر الدرجات في تنويه النبوات"، وقد احتوى على أحاديث كثيرة في الفضائل فعزم على اختصاره، ليسهل تناوله على قارئه وحيث أنه خاص في الأنبياء أراد أن يلحق به معاجز النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وأهل بيته المعصومين عليهم السلام، فوجد كتاباً ألفه الشريف أبو القاسم صاحب (الاستغاثة) سماه (تثبيت المعجزات). وذكر في صدره أنه عازم على جمع معاجز الأنبياء، ثم يتبعها بمعاجز الأئمة المعصومين من آل الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم ولكنه لما لم يجد في آخره ما وعد به من معاجزهم عليهم السلام، شرع في تأليف يضم معاجزهم ودلائل إمامتهم يكون تتمة لكتاب (تثبيت المعجزات) وسماه (عيون المعجزات).
