يتناول هذا الكتاب السنوي الثالث للهيئة اللبنانية للعلوم التربوية موضوع القيم والتعليم في إطاره الواسع ومن جوانب متعددة يبدأ الكتاب بمقابلتين تعالج كل منهما موضوع القيم من منطلق ثقافي-سياسي عام، فيتناول الأول موضوع الحداثة والعولمة والمجتمعات التقليدية وصراع القيم الناتج حولها، بينما تتناول الثانية مفهوم العيش المشترك بين الفئات اللبنانية وعلاقته بالقيم والمبادئ التي تقوم عليها الدول الحديثة.
بعد هاتين المقالتين التمهيديتين، تعالج نجلاء حمادة موضوع القيم المجتمعية من منظار تربوي وفي ضوء مقارنة تجريها بين القيم المعاصر في العالم وفي لبنان. ويتقصى كل من علي أحمد الصراح والغالي أحرشاو وجوه العلاقة بيت القيم والتعليم، أما فاديا حطبط فتناولت موضوع القيم كما تتبدى في الكتب المدرسية فأجرت دراسة مقارنة لثلاث كتب قراءه بالغات العربية والإنكليزية والفرنسية ترمي إلى استخلاص المواقف والمعتقدات والمثل والاهتمامات المضعفة فيها والتي تشكل قاعدة لتكوين القيم لدى التلاميذ وكانت القيم الأخلاقية والعلمية والدينية مواضيع لعدد من المقالات التي تصنفها الكتاب، وإلى جانب المقالات التحليلية والدراسات الميدانية والنظرية أفرد قسم خاص في الكتاب لبعض التجارب العملية الهادفة إلى تنمية قيم معينة لدى الناشئة وللشباب، في المدرسة وخارجها.
