قاموس "المورد" هو قاموس اللغة العربية المعاصرة والكلاسيكية ومقابلها من اللغة الإنكليزية وخطة ومنهج المورد هذا يضيفان عليه ميزات عدة أهمها: أولاً تضمين مفردات اللغة العربية كافة الكلمات والمصطلحات والعبارات المعاصرة والحديثة التي بانت بحكم التطور الحضاري والتمازج الثقافي والتواصل العلمي، جزءاً لا يتجزأ منها، شرط أن يتوفر فيها عنصرا الشيوع والتداول فتصبح مستقرة ومعترفاً بها من قبل الغالبية من مستعملي اللغة، ثانياً: إسقاط الألفاظ التي باتت، بحكم تطور اللغة وتقلب الحضارات، مهجورة أو مماتة بسبب من كونها قد ألقت خارج دائرة الاستعمال فصارت نابية عن حاجات العصر. ثالثا: إضافة المعاني الجديدة التي اكتسبتها كلمات معروفة سابقاً وإلحاقها بالمعاني القديمة لتلك الكلمات، وذلك بعد أن فرض التطور والابتكار استحداث تلك المعاني الجديدة، والتي لم تثبتها المعاجم العربية-العربية. رابعاً: إهمال معاني قديمة بائدة لكلمات معرفة إذا كانت تلك العاني قد أضحت نادرة الاستعمال إلى حد أنه يمكن اعتبارها غريبة في بابها. خامساً: تفريع الكلمة الواحدة إلى فروع يختص كل منها بمعنىً مستقل من المعاني، كلما اختص ذلك تعدد المعاني التي قد تفيدها الكلمة الواحدة، واتباع كل فرع منها بتعريف أو شرح أو دليل يميز الفرع عن سائر فروع الكلمة ويسهل على مراجع القاموس الاهتداء إلى طلبه. سادساً: الاهتمام بالعبارات الاصطلاحية التي توضح مغالق الكلام وتعين على إدراك أدق المعاني. سابعاً: النص على مجموعة كبيرة من المشتقات والمصادر، وإيراد طائفة صحته من كلمات النسبة. ثامناً: إعطاء كل لفظة عربية حقها الوافي من مقابلاتها الإنكليزية والمترادفات. تاسعاً: اعتماد الترتيب الألفبائي النطقي أسوة بالقواميس العالمية.
