إن تفسير أي نصّ يأخذ أهميته من النصّ نفسه، ولمّا كان النصّ القرآني من أعظم النصوص التي تشتمل على أبرز المعارف الإنسانية، وأغلب معالم الحضارة البشرية، فإن تفسيره تفسيراً رائداً ذو أهمية بالغة في حياة النصوص الأدبية، لهذا كان ما قدمه في هذه الدراسة بعنوان "المبادئ العامة لتفسير القرآن الكريم بين النظرية والتطبيق" يتناسب مع هذه الأهمية روحاً ومضموناً، وكان ما أثبته من آراء، وما رجّحه من وجوه، وما ناقشه من اجتهادات، وما عرضه من تفسير موضوعي وتسلسلي، وما اقترحه من أساليب، يتواكب مع مذهبه في التجديد والتطوير لعملية التفسير، ويتماشى مع ضرورة التخصص في مفردات وموضوعات التفسير، ويتماشى مع ضرورة التخصص في مفردات وموضوعات التفسير، وكان أن انتظم هذا الكتاب في بابين، الباب الأركان وكان بعنوان "التفسير في المستوى النظري"، وكان الباب الثاني بعنوان "التفسير في المستوى التطبيقي. ثم كانت خاتمة المطاف في بحثين: خلاصة ونتائج، وملخص تأريخي بطائفة من كتب التفسير عند المسلمين.
