لقد نهانا الله تعالى عن أمور كثيرة ورد ذكرها في القرآن الكريم، ومن تلك المناهي ما هو محرم، ومنها ما هو مكروه وينبغي على المسلم اجتبنا بها درءاً للمفاسد وتجنباً لسخط الله تعالى وغضبه، لهذا كله جاء كتاب المنهيات الشرعية في كتاب رب البرية" لمؤلفه "بسيوني محمد عبد السلام" ليلقي الأضواء على المنهيات التي نهى الله عنها في كتاب. إن ما يميز هذا الكتاب على سائر الكتب التي وردت في المنبهات هو منهجه فقد استقصى المؤلف المنهيات في كتاب الله تعالى حسب ترتيب آيات الكتاب، إضافة إلى ذكر أقوال المفسرين الأقدمين كالطبري وابن كثير والقرطبي وغيرهم، والمحدثين كالشيخ العدوي والجزائري وغيرهم كثير، حيث يعمد المؤلف إلى ذكر رأي الواحد منهم إن كان كافياً، ويذكر رأي آخرين، أيضاً، ويبتدئ غالباً بتفسير الأقدمين وأحياناً بالمحدثين حيثما كانت الفائدة، فضلاً عن الجمع بين التفسير الأقدم والأحدث لمزيد من الإيضاح. يتبع ذلك بحثاً للمنخصصين في النهي عن قتل النفس، وهنا يستشهد المؤلف بأقوال المفسرين القدامى ثم يعرج على ما استجد من أمور تتعلق بقتل النفس، كالعمليات الانتحارية وبيع الأعضاء، وغيرها مورداً لآراء وفتاوى العلماء المعاصرين.
يأتي هذا الكتاب جزئين في نسخة واحدة،يبتدأ الجزء الأول بسورة البقرة وينتهي عند الآية (24) من سور النساء. أما الجزء الثاني فيبتدأ بالآية (25) من سورة النساء وينتهي بالآية (37) من سورة الرعد. وقد سار المؤلف في الجزئين على ذكر أقوال المفسرين القدامى وكذا المحدثين، أما ما استجد من أمور كالتدخين والإضراب عن الطعام وتحويل الذكر إلى انثى وغير ذلك فقد اعتمد فيها على رأي العلماء المتخصصين بحكم أن هذه الظواهر لم تكن موجودة في الأزمنة الغابرة...
