يمثل هذا الكتاب خلاصة أبحاث وتجارب واحدة من أهم وأشهر أساتذة الطب النفسي وعلم النفس الطبي-العيادي في أوروبا. وهذا وقد انتقت المؤلفة بنفسها المقالات الأهم، والأكثر إيجازا وتعبيرا عن نظريتها، مما ألفته طيلة أربعين سنة من الممارسة العيادية. والبروفسورة موسون مدرستها الخاصة التي يوجزها هذا الكتاب فهي تعتمد أسلوباً خاصاً في الفحص النفسي وتعتمد اختبارات نفسية من وضعها وتقنينها.
كما أن لها نظرة خاصة فيما يتعلق بالأمراض النفسية-الجسدية (البسيكوسوماتيك) وقس عليه بالنسبة للعلاج الدوائي، وكلها مواضيع يعرضها هذا الكتاب الموجز لنظريتها، في الفصل الأول عرضت لاختبارين إسقاطين من وضع وتقنين المؤلفة: وهذين هما: اختيار رسم الوقت واختبار التماهي بالصور أو اختبار ودولف، وقد قامت المؤلفة بتطبيقهما وتقنينهما وصولاً إلى جعلهما قابلين للاستعمال العيادي.
وفي الفصل الثاني عرضت المؤلفة خلاصة تجربتها التي وضعتها كمساهمة في الطب النفسي-الجسدي (البسيكوسوماتيك) وهذا التجربة كانت المؤلفة قد قامت بها على ألفين من المرض البسيكوسوماتيون. أما الفصل الثالث فخصصه لموضوع العلاج الدوائي للحالات العصابية. وهذا الفصل هو عبارة عن ترجمة لمقال بالإنكليزية كانت المؤلفة قد دونته سابقاً وأفردت الفصل الرابع لمسألة الطب النفسي_البيولوجي، وهنا عرضت بعض الدراسات المتعلقة بالآثار النفسية والبيولوجية لبعض العقاقير. كما وشرحت طرق الإفادة في هذه المعلومات في العلاج الطبي للأمراض النفسية.
