ما دفع الباحث للبحث في موضوع التنمية البشرية هو شعوره بسرعة تقلبات هذا الزمان سواء على المستوى المادي أو المستوى البشري.
وكثرة المشكلات التي تواجه البشر أفراداً وجماعات وجنوح البشرية لإستخدام العنف في حل المشكلات؛ مع الأخذ بعين الإعتبار أن كل ما هو على الأرض وحول الإنسان ثابت، إلا هو أو ما يتحرك حسب رغبته، فهو الذي يحرك وهو الذي يتحرك حركة ذاتية يمكن أن يتحكم بها بهدف الوقوف على سبب هذا التسارع والتقلب في السلوك البشري.
ما جعله يستنتج أن تركيز هذا العلم على النواحي المادية في الإنسان وتجاهل النواحي الروحية في معظم الأحيان هو من العناصر المهمة التي جعلت البشر ينأون بأنفسهم عن القيم الروحية التي تعتبر صمام أمان في العلاقات البشرية، لأنهم نتيجة للتغاضي عن هذه القيم ينمون نمواً غير متوازن.
ولكثرة مواضيع التنمية البشرية وتشعب مجالاتها، ومع زيادة الإهتمام بالبشر كرأسمال حقيقي يمكن الركون إليه بإحداث التنمية والتطور، جاءت فكرة الكتابة عن التنمية البشرية وليس فيها، للوقوف على مرتكزاتها الأساسية كمدخل للتنمية قبل الخوض في تفاصيلها أو في مواضيعها.
فقد رأى الباحث أن التنمية البشرية بجوانبها العقلية والعاطفية والروحية تسير بشكل متوازن مع بقية أنواع التنمية الإقتصادية والسياسية الإجتماعية وغير ذلك من أنواع التنمية وتواكب جميع مراحل التقدم والتطور على المستوى الفردي والجمعي؛ وبالتالي على المستوى البشري.
فالإنسان بطبعه كمتغير، يسمى لتطوير نفسه وأدواته ليرتقي بمستوى معيشته بهدف الوصول إلى الحياة الفضلى بالتركيز على إكتساب المعرفة وإكسابها، لأنه يدرك أن البناء المعرفي هو الركيزة الأساسية في التنمية بشكل عام والتنمية البشرية بشكل خاص.
