في "اعترافات العراب الأخيرة" يقول الشاعر العطاري: "أنا لست غير ساعٍ للحرف / أجدله بسنابل المروج / ليكون قلادة على عنق المعاني الطائرة ، أرسمُ من خضرة الحقول صورة أمي / ومن قشه الخشن وجه أبي / أنا لست غير خسارة للذةِ ليلةٍ عادية في أيلول / (...) / أعترف أنني لست أنا ربما ... كنت ...". وعلى هذا الدرب تسير قصائد المجموعة وتتحرك في مساحات واسعة من الروح الإنسانية ومشاغلها، وهواجسها، وما يعتصرها في هذا العالم الواسع. وبهذا المعنى هي قصائد تحمل بين ضلوعها عذابات شاعر يتوق لعالم خالص من الشوائب، فألقى فيها مؤلفها روحه العذبة ومغازلته المجهول وهو يطرح عليه أسئلته و "في إغماضة الجفن / جواب السؤال / إن ساءلأني / فشيعاني يا عيني الغزالة / شيعاني / هذا الكحلُ وسمُ حدادي". بهذا الحضور يذهب الشاعر بقصيدته إلى ينابيع كثيرة يبحث بسطورها عن حلم، عن غدٍ آخر ...
يضم الكتاب ثمانون قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "صباح مكرور" ، "نافذة" ، "على مهل" ، "صباح العرّاب" ، "ضحكة" ، "عتبة العراب" ، "إنتظار" ، "في البدء" ، (...) وقصائد أخرى.
