نقرأ في هذا الكتاب (تلخيص وتوضيح) السيد محمد حسين المرعشي الشهرستاني لما يعرف بـ (الزيارة الجامعة الكبيرة) للشيخ أحمد زين الدين الإحسائي. وهي زيادة مشهورة بين الشيعة يتلقون إياها بالقبول من غير معارض ولا راد لإشتمالها على الأسرار العجيبة والمعاني البديعة والظواهر الزاهرة والبواطن الباهرة وخفايا الدنيا. وهي في مضمونها دعوات وصلوات وقربى من الله عز وجل وآل بيته الطيبين الطاهرين. يتعلم المؤمنين من خلال هذا الكتاب كيفية الدعاء والصلاة ومعان جليلة مثل: أشهد أنكم الأئمة الراشدون، المعصومون، المكرمون المقربون، المتقون الصادقون المصطفون... إلخ.
وعن هذه الزيارة وعن الشيخ الإحسائي يقول السيد محمد الشهرستاني في مقدمة الكتاب:... ولما كان من أتقنها وأشرفها ما الَفه في شرح الزيارة الجامعة الكبيرة، لإشتماله على جميع مطالبه ومقاصده واسراره ومآربه، رأيت أن ألخصه تلخيصاً نافعاً يشتمل على لبَ المطالب، بحذف المكرَرات والمستطردات، ليسهل تناوله للناظرين، وأشير في الهامش إلى ما يشتمل عليه من المتشابهات والإشتباهات ليظهر ما قرَرناه للمنصفين الطالبين للدين، وبالله أستعين(...)".
