يدور كتاب "تمام النعمة الكبرى على العالم بمولد سيّد ولد آدم للإمام" ابن حجر الهيتمي، حول ميلاد الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقد جعله المؤلف من بابين: جاء الباب الأول في المقدمات ويتكون من ثلاثة فصول حول أصل عمل المولد النبوي، وفي بيان قبائح صدرت من الناس مقترنة بعمل المولد، وفي ذكر اختلاف العلماء في تفضيل ليلة مولده الشريف على ليلة القدر. والباب الثاني جاء في المقاصد ويتكون من سبعة فصول، في ذكر نسبه الشريف، وفي نُبذ أصل خلْقه صلى الله عليه وسلم، وفي ذكر نبذة من كراماته التي ظهرت في بعض آياته، وفي ذكر شيء من شرف هذا النسب الشريف، وفي تزوج عبد الله بآمنة، وفي حمله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وفي ولادته، وفي رضاعه صلى الله عليه وسلم، ثم تنبيهات حول ثلاث نقاط، تناول فيها قصة شق صدره صلى الله عليه وسلم، ووصف خاتم الرسول، ومصير والديه صلى الله عليه وسلم، ثم ختم كتابه بتلخيص ما سبق ذكره في الكتاب. أما عمل المحقق فقد تجلى بتخريج ما في الكتاب من أحاديث وأخبار والتعليق عليها.
