بين الحقيقة والواقع بعد يتناهى، وأحياناً، يتقارب حدّ التلامس. فالواقع يفرض ذاته ويتكرر فيألفه الناس حتى يختلط عليهم فيبدو وكأنه الحقيقة. وتحاول العلوم الطبية، المتداولة اليوم، وما يتفرع عنها من العلوم، وعلى الرغم من نجاحات الجراحة في بعض الميادين، وتطور المعالجة في البعض الآخر، وتطور الطب الوقائي، أن تفرض واقعها كأنه الحقيقة بكل أبعادها. وأمام عجزها عن اكتشاف أسباب الكثير من الأمراض وعزها عن شفاء الكثير من المرضى، فإنها بادعائها تملك الحقيقة، أو تصور العامة لذلك، فقد خلقت في قرارة نفس الكثير من المرضى اليأس المميت الذي يقتلهم قبل أوانهم، كما خلقت في نفس الأصحاء الرعب من هذه الأمراض، وجعلتهم يخشون التلفظ بأسمائها، حتى وإن كانت بغيرهم، فهيأتهم ليصابوا بها أو لعييشوا رعب الاصابة دون أن تكون فيهم.
لقد أثبت بعض بواكير بحوث علم الجينات الذري، تخطّى الزمان لواقع المجهود الطبي المعاصر، الذي تلهى بالمرض وأعراضه ونتائجه وأغفل المريض وكوامن المرض فيه، حتى لتبدو نتائج هذه البحوث وكأنها تتحدث عن حقيقة خيالية بالنسبة لواقع فرض ذاته كأنه الحقيقة فعقلها وأعاق مواكبتها للزمان.
في هذا الكتاب "البعد السابع" دراسات وأبحاث تحليلية موضوعة تطبيقة حول علاقة علم النفس بالمرض والطاقات الشفائية الذاتية؛ حيث أراد به المؤلف تقريب المسافة بين الواقع والخيال، بين الواقع اليائس، وبين الأمل الواعد.
