الفرض من الخوض في موضوع التربية هو إظهار زلات الوالدين، لما لهذه الزلات من سلبيات بحيث تشكل مصدراً للأمراض التي تتألم منها المجتمعات. ويتبادر إلى الذهن تساؤلات: هل يمكن أن يصح القول بوجود زلات الوالدين؟ أم أن هذا مجرد تعبير تصويري؟ أم أن الواقع يفرض نفسه فيظهر ما يجب إظهاره ويقول ما يجب أن يقال؟ وسواء أكان هذا أم ذاك، فلا بد للقارئ أكان أباً أم أماً أم مربياً أم باحثاً اجتماعياً أم شاباً أم فتاة، أن يطلع على أسس التربية الحديثة التي يتطرق إليها هذا الكتاب، مستشهداً بصور من الواقع قديماً وحديثاً، وأن يلم بمواقف الآباء والأبناء في الجو العائلي وأن يتفهم رسالة الأهل في تربية فلذات أكبادهم... وبالتالي الحكم بحقيقة الوجود أو عدم وجود زلات الوالدين.
وإذا كانت فهل هي من النوع الجدير بالبحث والدراسة وتخصيص مؤلف كالذي بين يدي القارئ لدراستها. وبالنتيجة هل هناك من مشكلة يقتضي التعمق في البحث عن حلول مجدية لها؟ وهل يجوز البحث فيما إذا كان من أخطاء فيما يقوم به الوالدين؟ وهل يجوز أن تسمى هذه الأخطاء: زلات الوالدين؟ وفي سبيل تحقيق آباء وأمهات قدوات، وبالتالي تربية الأبناء تربية صالحة ونافعة يقوم على أساسها بناء مجتمع قديم، كأنه هذا الكتاب، وكانت الغاية من نشره.
