موضوع البحث في هذا الكتاب هو البيان في مقارنة الأديان، حاول الباحث من خلاله أن يجمع للدارس والمهتم الضروري في هذا الموضوع، معتمداً منهج التحليل مع العرض للمعلومات من مصادرها الأصلية. عالج الباحث اليهودية مبيناً مضامينها ونصوصها التي قادت إلى الصهيونية، وعالج المسيحية مع إشارة إلى الحوار والتواصل بين المسيحيين والمسلمين. وفي القسم الثاني بحث في واقع سبع ديانات حيّة يحتاج الإنسان إلى الاطلاع عليها ليتعامل مع أتباعها، أو ليعرف ما الذي يحكم فكرهم وسلوكهم. والديانات الحية السبع هي: الصابئة، الزرادشتية، الهندوسية، البوذية، السيخية-الكونفوشية، الشنتوية.
صُنِّف الكتاب ونُسِّق بشكل يسدُّ حاجة طلاب كليات الدراسات الإسلامية والشريعة في مادة "تاريخ الأديان المقارن".
وهو يعطي فكرة عامة عن الديانتين السماويتين اليهودية، والمسيحية، وعن الأديان الحية: الصابئة-الزرادشتية-الهندوسية-البوذية-السيخية-الكونفوشية-الشنتوية.
ويسدُّ حاجة كل مثقف للاطلاع على أكثر الديانات انتشاراً في العالم. صيغ بأسلوب سهل، وصنِّف بطريقة أكاديمية حيادية بالاعتماد على المصادر الأصلية لكل ديانة.
