عندما كنت أجلس إلى الصديق الأستاذ الشاعر مفيد خنسة ذات مساء، وسمعت منه هذه القصيدة أخذتني هزة تقول لي هذه هي الذاكرة التي لا بد أن نسجلها ونحفظها وننقلها إلى أوسع القطاعات راهنا ونحملها للأجيال القادمة لعلها تدرك حجم التضحيات التي بذلت في سبيل تحرير فلسطين وعزتها وكرامتها.
لن ننسى نحن شهود هذا الزمن المر القاسي، فقد تمازجت أوقاتنا ونبضاتنا بالفجيعة القاهرة، ولكن وعلى ذات المستوى ينبغي علينا أن لا ندع الأجيال القادمة تنسى أو تتناسى فهي التواصل التاريخي لروحنا والحاملة للحظتنا إلى نسمة حرية يتنعم بها وطننا.
في هذه القصيدة يتمازج الوطني بالقومي بالإحساس النبيل وتبدو براعة الشاعر وهو ينهل من موروث عربي رائع ليخط ملحمة تسمو بروحها وأنفاسها للانتماء إلى عيون الشعر العربي لتكون سطراً في "ديوان العرب" تحكي حكاية حب للوطن وعرس شهادة ، ومهر الدم.
