بحاجة إلى أن ينعزل في غرفته بدون مراسم استقبال، وبدون جدول للمواعيد وبدون كلمات ثناء وكلمات شكر وكلمات تبجيل، وكلمات ملغومة تفجر في النفس الألم والحسرة، كلما قابل أحدهم يلمح أطناناً من الكلمات يريد قولها، ويجد في عيونهم آلاف الطلبات يريدون تحقيقها، وآلاف الحسرات المتأججة، كان يشاهد الرياء مشخصاً، والحزن مشخصاً، والفقر مشخصاً، كان يرى الكثير من البشر ألسنا تسجنها اللحظة القصيرة، وأكفاً قادرة علة التصفيق بدوم كلل، والطعن بدون كلل، والسرقة بدون كلل.
كان يحمل طلب استرحام ولم يجد مكاناً يستطيع الوصول منه إليه سوى الاحتفال، لكنه قتل في نفس اليوم إنه والد لأحد المعتقلين، وقاوم رجال الأمن ورفع صوته عالياً لدرجة كانت ستسيء إلى اللحظات التاريخية. طرد الجميع من مجلسه يومها وتذكر قول عمر "لولا أبو الحسن لهلك عمر" أين هؤلاء الرجال وأين نحن، خاف الآخرة لكن يبدو أنه لا مناص، فلا مقدرة لديه للتفكير عن ذنوب وكبائر لا تعد ولا تحصى كل يوم ترتكب باسمه وتحت رايته وصوره الموزعة في كل مكان وعلى كل الصدور وعلى زوايا الدفاتر والكتب المدرسية، يعرف جيداً أنه سيف يرفعه العاصون والمارقون والزنادقة والسرقة والمراءون، ويحاول الفقراء رفعه لكن يعجزهم سبل حمله والتلويح به.
