عبد الله بن مسلم بن قتيبة الدينَوَريّ، أبو محمد
• من أئمة الأدب، ومن المصنفين المكثرين.
• ولد ببغداد وسكن الكوفة. ثم ولي قضاء الدينور مدة، فنسب إليها. وتوفي ببغداد.

كتاب السلطان، ويتناول: السلطان وسيرته وسياسته، واختيار العمال، وصحبة السلطان وآدابها، والمشاورة والرأي، والسر وكتمانه واعلانه، والكتابة والكتاب والأحكام والتلطف.
وهذا الكتاب الجامع لشتى العلوم، أملته طبيعتان: طبيعة العصر وطبيعة المؤلف، فلقد كان العصر جامعا لعلوم مختلفة وثقافات متعددة، فاذا بذلك معترك يشارك فيه الكثير من مختلف الطبقات والثقافات والأجناس.
