تنطــلق أهمية دراسة موضـوع هذا البحث من منطلقين رئيسـين اثنين، المنطلق الأول: كونه يمثل اتجاها جديدا في الدراسات النقدية الحديثة ومادة خصبة لها، بما يسمى بـ(العتبات النصية)، إذ لم يعد فيها العنوان مجرد تسميات أو تقانات شكلية مرشدة للنص فارغة من القصدية، وإنما صار مفتاحا تأويليا ومصطلحا إجرائيا يمثل جزءا من استراتيجية النص الإبداعي، إذ يصبح الوصول إلى دلالة النص مرتبطا به، وفاعلية العنوان هذه كانت دافعا لي للتفكير في دراسته ولكن خارج الأطر المعتادة؛ أُطر (المؤلفات الشعرية والنثرية)، فقد اتجهنا نحو دراسة العنوان في (المؤلفات النقدية الحديثة) التي تبدو بحاجة ماسة إلى لفت الأنظار إليها لأنها لازالت ميدانا جديدا للبحث والدرس والاستقصاء دخولا منها إلى عالم الناقد ورؤاه النقدية وآلياته المنهجية وطرائقه الأسلوبية في تشكيل عنواناته الخارجية والداخلية والفرعية، وعلاقتها ببعضها وبالمتون التي تعتلي صدارتها سواء أمثَّلت متن الكتاب أم مباحثه، أما المنطلق الثاني الذي يعطي للموضوع أهميته فكونه وقف أمام كتابات نقدية معمقة ومتنوعة لناقد عراقي مجتهد هو حاتم الصكر، الذي لم يأخذ منجزه النقدي حقه من الدراسة الجادة على ساحة النقد العربي المعاصر.
