لقد كان غسان جبري أستاذاً من أساتذة الإخراج التلفزيوني داخل الأستديو، وقد شغف إلى حد كبير في اكتشاف امكانيات العمل المتاحة ضمن جدران ذلم العمل المغلق، وفي اغنائه بجماليات فنية وتعبيرية جعلت منه فضاء مفتوحاً عاى الحالة الدرامية التي يتفاعل فيها الممثل مع الكلمة والكاميرا والأحساس والفكرة.
لقد صنع مبدع "دولاب" و"حكايا الليل" و"انتقام الزباء" و"طرفة بن العبد" ريادة موازية لريادة المتميزين من ابناء جيله.. لم يكن تلميذاً يتعلم من زملائه، بل كان مجتهداً يبحث عن مسار مختلف مهما تشابهت بعض معالمه،أو تعثرت بعض خطواته..ولئن ضاعت ملامح هذه الريادة في خضم المقارنات حيناً، أو اهمال غسان لتاريخه حيناً آخر، فإن هذا الكتاب بأتي كي يعيد قراءتها، ويبلور معالمها على الورق.. بعد أن تابعنا المعالم لسنوات طويلة على الشاشة.
