حين يمسك الشاعر مصباحه الخافت، وحين يقترب من ذاته أكثر.. تتحول قصائده إلى ومضات يائسة ويشي لقارئه بحقائق نادرة. في "ما يشبه كلاماً أخيراً" قصائد تجمع في نسيجها كل هذا، فهي أسيرة حزنها الداخلي ونبعها الملتبس. هذه القصائد تستقبلنا بالحيرة وتفتح ابواباً مشرعة لاسئلة عميقة تمنحنا في الوقت نفسه اجوبة قلقلة هي سرَ الشعر وسر كتابته.
في قصيدة تحت عنوان "أسئلة.." يقول الشاعر نزيه أبو عفش: "كيف لي أن أواسي الحياة؟/ كيف لي أن أردَ إليها الورود التي أذبلتها المحن؟/ كيف أرخو ثقوب سماواتها وهي تشجب شيئاً فشيئاً/ فيكسبها الخزف لون بياض الكفن؟! (...)/ أن الغبار الذي يتلألأ في أعين الميتين/ ومضة من حياة؟! (...)".
في الكتاب (18) قصيدة تنتمي لقصيدة النثر وزعها الشاعر على مجموعتين، المجموعة الأولى بعنوان: "لا أرى الليل" والمجموعة الثانية بعنوان "أسماء".
