الشاعر "سليم بركات" الذي يعتبر رائداً حداثوياً بامتياز، وقائداً لموكب الشعراء السوريين، بين جيلين، يكتب له حبش "... يطفق الندى من يديه مبتهجاً، ضاحكاً ومترنماً كثقوب ناي مرمي في رحابه الريح وفكاهته الطائشة./ يرقص الموسيقى على هوى دغدغاته وأحلامه العارمة،/ يتقدم، متهيئاً للمجامر المربكة/ مآله الخطورة والوعورة والمنحدرات والجروف الشاهقة/ ينتفض كاللهب مانحاً الشساعة المتوهجة إلى كل الجهات والمضارب/ القريبة والقصية معاً".
عن تجربته الشعرية هذه يقول حسين حبش: "في زمن يسير فيه كل شيء نحو الإختصار والسرعة والتسطيح والسماجة والإبتذال ربما. أردت أن أقدم نصاً مغايراً، طويلاً، ملتوياً وصعباً لا يمكن للقارئ الولوج إلى طبقاته وتفكيك بيناته بسهولة، إلا إذا كان متسلحاً بثقافة شعرية وأدبية معينة، وكان متحرراً من القيود الذهنية والعقلية والموضوعية، مدركاً معنى الخيال والضلال وتبعات الجنون، والجنوع والمفارقات الشعرية الكبرى".
