تشتمل موسوعة النباتات المفيدة بشكل رئيسي على النباتات الطبية والدوائية والتي يمكن استخدامه في الطبيعة. وتحتوي على النباتات الإعاشية كالحبوب والقمح والذرة والشعير والنشويات كالبطاطا والنباتات الخضارية والثمرية التي توفر المادة الهلامية والسكريات والببتيدات والفيتامينات, والنباتات التصنيعية كالنباتات النسيجية والصباغية والزيتية. ويبحث الكتاب أكثر من 800 نبتة بطريقة بسيطة ومنهجية وبمعلومات مفيدة وقيمة كوصف هيئتها والإشارة إلى إنتمائها النباتي وروابط نسبتها وتعليقات تاريخية ومصطلحات تتضمن التسمية المحلية والشعبية والخصائص العلاجية المشفوعة بمبادئ أصولية ثابتة, ويؤكد على الملاحظات والتوصيات للوقاية من أي ضرر لاستعمال مفرط خاطئ. وصنفت النباتات حسب ترتيب الأحرف الأبجدي وعندما يكون للنبات أكثر من أسم يشار إليها في فهرس المترادفات بالعودة إلى الأصناف المطابقة, ففي الفهرس العربي دونت التسمية المحلية العربية والبربرية وبقابل كل واحدة منهما يوجد تدوين بالأحرف اللاتينية والاسم الدارج ومن الممكن أيضاً العودة إلى فهرس الأسماء النباتية باللاتينية مع التسمية المستعملة بالمقابل.
