يموت الإنسان وينقطع عن العمل وتطوي صحيفة أعماله وتنسد الأبواب، دون الإستزادة من الخير، ولكن تأبى رحمة الله سبحانه وتعالى التي وسعت كل شيء إلا أن تلحق الإنسان بعد موته فتبقي له نافذتين، واحده تصل بينه وبين الأحياء فيستفيد مما يهدي من أبنائه ومن أهله وأصحابه ومن المؤمنين ومن مشارق الأرض ومغاربها، فهي أعمال لم يخطُ لها خطوة ولم يحرك لها ساكناً. وفي الدعاء: "الهم إغفر للمؤمنين والمؤمنات، المسلمين والمسلمات، الأحياء منهم والأموات، وتابع اللهم بيننا وبينهم بالخيرات". والثانية هي عبارة عن ريع بعض الأعمال التي زرع بذرتها في حياته ويستفيد منها الآخرون فتكتب له صدقة جارية تؤتي أكلها كل حين. وهذا الكتاب يضم مجموعة من الصلوات والأدعية والأعمال والتي ينتفع ببركتها الأموات وتدخل عليهم السرور. كما أن ما في هذا الكتاب لا يقف عند منفع الأموات بل هو يتجاوز ذلك إلى الأحياء الذين يذكرون الموت هادم اللذات دائماً وذلك إستعداداً له، ولما بعده. وقد تم ترتيب ذلك ضمن فصول خمسة، ضم الفصل الأول سوراً قرآنية ينتفع بها الأموات، ثم جاء الفصل الثاني في آداب وأدعية الجنائز، وقدم الفصل الثالث هدية الأحياء إلى الأموات من حيث بيان ما يمكن للحي تقديمه فينتفع به من (صلاة بر الوالدين، صلاة بر الولد، صلاة هدية الأموات، صلاة ساعة الدفن، صلاة رفع الوحشة عن الميت ليلة الدفن) ثم تلاوة القرآن والإستغفار للموتى... الصلاة على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم... الصدقة وفعل الخيرات... كفالة الأيتام... العقيقة والأضحية عن الموتى... زيارة القبور. وتم تخصيص الفصل الرابع للحديث عن العمل الذي ينفع الأحياء في العالم الآخر. وأخيراً جاء الفصل الخامس في الأدعية والمناجاة.
