في كتابه هذا، يبحث الشيخ محمد طه ياسين كاظم الدليمي في مفهوم الخلود في القرآن الكريم ويؤكد من خلاله أن لمفهوم الخلود مكانة متميزة في كتاب الله، لذا خص تعالى هذا المفهوم بآيات عديدة، وصلت إلى سبعة وثمانين موضعاً، منها إحدى وأربعين مرة تشير إلى الخلود في الجنة، كلها جاءت بصيغة الجمع، ومنها سبع وثلاثين مرة تشير إلى الخلود في النار حيث جاءت بصيغة الجمع والتثنية والإفراد، ومنها ما يقترب من الخلود الدنيوي تناوله الشارع بصيغة "الظن" مثل لفظ (يحسب) في قوله تعالى: "وتتخذون مصانع لعلكم تخلدون" ومنها بصيغة "الغواية" كما في قوله تعالى: "قال يا آدَمَ هل أدلك على شجرة الخلد وملكٍ لا يبلى".
وبالإستناد إلى ما تقدم ندرك أهمية مفهوم الخلود، وأثره على عقيدة المسلم. لذلك يبحث المؤلف في آيات الخلود في القرآن الكريم، كما يبحثها عند معتنقي الديانات الأخرى، والمذاهب كافة، عارضاً الآراء مناقشاً، متدبراً، مبيّناً المعاني والألفاظ اللغوية، وكل ذلك بهدف الخروج بتصور دقيق وعميق لمفهوم الخلود. من هنا سيجد القارىء بهذا الكتاب بالإضافة إلى مفهوم الخلود في الديانات السماوية الثلاث، كيف فسر الخلود كلٌ من الكندي، وإبن سينا، والفارابي، وكيف فسرت الفرق الإسلامية الخلود مثل: الشيعة، المعتزلة، الجهنمية، فضلاً عن مباحث خاصة عن مفهوم الخلود في (الجنة) بحسب الإعتقاد وبحسب العمل أي : التقوى، الإحسان، الإستقامة، الطاعة، الخوف، وغيرها، والجزاء (المكافأة) التي أعدها الله لعباده المتقين في الآخرة. كما يعرض الكتاب مباحث خاصة عن (الخلود في النار) والآيات الواردة في خلود النار، وعقوبة مرتكب الكبيرة والخلود في النار عند: المرجئة، الشيعة، الخوارج، المعتزلة، وأهل السنة والجماعة، (...) وموضوعات أخرى ذات صلة.
