"غنّوا يا أطفالي غنّوا، نمشي، يمشي معنا الموت. ننمو، ينمو معنا الموت، يا موتي الحاضر فيّا، يا من ولدته أمي. حلفتك حين يدق نفير الأرض الأبيض، حين يجيء الموعد خذني. اقطفني سنبلة نضجت في صيفْ. ارفعني مثل الراعية مثل الرمح وطوقني ما بين قرانا، فالفقراء هنالك أهلي، يحتشدون على الشرفات كما في يوم النصر وقد رفعوا الدايات. بقصائد لم تكتب توجني، قلدني أسماء العشق ودمع نساءٍ سرّياتْ. كالمشعل بين يديك اجعلني فأنا سأضيء لك الظلمات. ما أوجع أن تذهب دون كلمة تدعوك إلى البقاء. حينئذٍ يكون حزنك مضاعفاً: حزنك للذهاب وحزنك أن تذهب من دون حزن، أتظل وحيداً في الخارج؟ تمحوك رياحك في الخارج! تجتاح عربات الرعد الليلي وأجنحة الأفق الهائجْ. ادخل.... فستمطر عشر ليالٍ عشر سنين وأنت وحيد في الخارج. ستبلل أثوابك واسمك، وسيجرف نهر الأسماء المجهولة اسمك.. فبما ندعوك إذا ما عدت بدون اسم، لو ناداك الحرّاس، لو سألت أمك لو قالت: أرأيتم ولداً لا اسم له؟ لا يدخل أبداً، يتسول رعداً. يا أعذب من ناي في الريح، يا طفل اللوعة كيف تصبر كحجر كتراب كهواء؛ حراً متّحداً بالأشياء وتصير المفرد في الإنسان، تصير النوع أخوتك الثلج، العشب، الطير، وعَيلتك الأشياء. يا أنت السابح تحت الليل مع الأسماء الضائعة الأسماء..".
منصور الرحباني يسافر وحده ملكاً ليضحي ذاك الغريب الآخر المنسي على شطآن الذاكرة، وليتكون من جديد؛ قصائد مسافرة على دروب العمر، وإيقاعات على أوتار شجن منسي في أعماق الحزن، وسيمفونيات تتقاطر ألحاناً عذبة وشلال كلمات يهدر كما انعتاق الماء من خلف سدّ. وسيّالات معاني تتدافع من فرط الوجد.
