يأتي هذا الكتاب من ضمن سلسلة منشورات يصدرها اتحاد المصارف العربية وهو الكتاب السادس وموضوعه "سرية المصارف وضمان الودائع المصرفية في لبنان" من إعداد الدكتور هشام البساط، ويبدأ بمقدمة هي لمحة عن التطور المصرفي في لبنان منذ العام 1919 وحتى 1974 –زمن صدور الكتاب- يلي ذلك محاور الكتاب وتشتمل على الحديث عن (أولاً): نظام سرية المصارف وفقاً للقانون العام، و(ثانياً): نظام سرية المصارف وفقاً لقانون 3 أيلول 1956 ويبحث في 1- حدود تطبيق قانون سرية المصارف و2- الإستثناءات الملحوظة في قانون سرية المصارف و3 – النتائج القانونية لمخالفة السر المصرفي عن قصد وعن غير قصد. وخاتمة حول: سرية المصارف "ما لها وما عليها) بالإضافة إلى ملحق عن قانون سرية المصارف (1956) و:نص القانون السويسري الخاص بسرية المصارف والمادة 378 من قانون العقوبات الفرنسي. هذا في القسم الأول من الكتاب. أما القسم الثاني منه فيدور حول "ضمان الودائع المصرفية في لبنان" ويتحدث عن ضرورة ضمان الودائع المصرفية وحاجة لبنان لضمان الودائع المصرفية بعد الهزة التي عرفها الجهاز المصرفي عام 1964 والمشروعات التي قدمت لضمان الودائع المصرفية وهي 1- مشروع الدكتور طلحت اليافي ومشروع الأستاذ ميشال صعب. ثم عرض للأحكام المتعلقة بإنشاء المؤسسة الوطنية لضمان الودائع، ومقارنة بين بعض مواد المشروعات المقدمة لضمان الودائع (1973) وأخيراً خاتمة هي تقييم لسير عمل المؤسسة الوطنية لضمان الودائع في لبنان بعنوان "المؤسسة الوطنية لضمان الودائع: جهاز ضرائبي أم مؤسسة مستقلة؟".
