Book Description
"قال: روى رباح بن حبيب عن رجل من بني عامر، قال: لما كثر ذكر المجنون/لليلى، واشتهر أمره، اجتمع/إلى أبيه أهله -وكان سيداً_ فقالوا له: زوج قيساً، فإنه سيكف عن ذكر ليلى وينساها. فعرض عليه أبوه التزويج فأبى، وقال: لا حاجة بي إلى ذلك. وأتى ليلى بعض فتيان الحيّ ممن كان يحسد قيساً ويعاديه، فأخبرها أنه عزم على أن يتزوج. وجاء المجنون كما كان يجيء، فحجبته ولم تظهر له، فرجع وهو يقول: "فو الله ما أدري علام هجرتني، وأي أموري فيك يا ليل أركب؟ أأقطع جبل الوصل فالموت دونه، أم أشرب رنقاً منكم ليس يشرب؟ أم أعرب حتى لا أرى لي مجاوراً، أم أفعل ماذا؟ أن أبوح فأغلب؟ فو الله ما أدري وإني لدائب، أفكر ما جرمي إليها فأعجب".
قال: فبلغها قوله، فأنشأت تقول: صدق والله قيس حين يقول: "ومن يطع الواشين لا يتركوا له، صديقاً وإن كان الحبيب المقربا".
وذكر بعضهم أنه قال له: أنا أزوجك أشرف منها وأحسن فبكى، وأنشأ يقول: "لليلى على قلبي من الحب حاجز مقيم، ولكن الفراق عظيم، فواحدة تبكي من الهجر والقلى، وأخرى لها شجو بها وتهيم، وينهضني من حب ليلى نواهض، لهنّ حريق في الفوائد مقيم، إلى الله أشكو فقد ليلى كما شكا، إلى الله فقد الوالدين يتيم".
هذه من أخبار مجنون بني عامر الذي ضربت به الأمثال في العشق ما اشتهر به، فهو أشهر المشتهرين به، وصفها "يوسف بن حسن الحنبلي" بين طيات هذا الكتاب تذكرة وموعظة، يتعظ بها المتعظ، ويتيقظ منها اليقظ، ويتبصر بها المحب، ويستحليها الشاعر، ويستلذها المثابر، ويحتج بها النحاة على العربية، ويقتضي منها أصحاب اللغة رتبة سنية، ويستضئ بها العلماء في مواضع من الملمات، ويستشهد بها أرباب المعاني والآداب والمهمات.
