لقد انخرط العالم العربي منذ ما يزيد على قرن من الزمان، في مسلسل التحديث في مستوياته المختلفة. وظل طيلة عقود القرن الذي ينصرم، يحاول بناء ما يكسبه شرعية الفاعل المنفعل، والمنقعل الفاعل فيما انخرط في إنجازه كرهاً وقسراً، وبفعل متطلبات التاريخ، التي تتجاوز القسر والإكراه، حيث يساهم الوعي التاريخي في مراكمة المعطيات، ودمج الثقافات، وتوحيد الأزمنة، وبناء المرجعيات والأصول الجديدة وقد آن الأوان بعد كل المعارك الخاسرة في مستوى الذهنيات والوجدانيات، وفي مستوى الواقع. أن نحوَل تجاربنا رغم عنفها المادي والرمزي، إلى تجارب قادرة على إعادة تركيب كل عناصر القوة المطلوبة. من أجل بناء مجالنا السياسي، وإعادة بناء نظرنا داخله، بالصورة التي تجعلنا ننشئ تصورات جديدة لكيفيات استمرار تقاطع المقدس بالتاريخ، تصورات قادرة على استيعاب أسئلة اللحظة التاريخية الراهنة بمختلف أبعادها. وفي هذا المستوى بالذات من التفكير نستحضر مبدأ العقلانية، كما نستحضر تجارب التاريخ، فتنشأ أسئلة جديدة، وتلوح في أفق المفهوم دلالات جديدة، نكون معنييم بالتقاطها واستيعابها، لنطور المفهوم في ضوئها... وبهذه الطريقة نتخلص من وثن المفهوم، والمفهوم الوئن لنركب ونبني المفهوم السياسي التاريخي، المفهوم المنفتح على أسئلة الماضي وأسئلة الحاضر... وهنا بالذات نكون قد بدأنا نتكلم لغة يفهمها الجميع، لغة السياسة في التاريخ.
