الثابت المشهور من سيرته صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه لم يتزوج إلا بعد أن بلغ الخامسة والعشرين من العمر. والثابت كذلك أن الزواج المبكر كان من أعراف المجتمع الجاهلي رغبة في الاستكثار من البنين خاصة ليكونوا للقبيلة عزاً ومنعة بين القبائل، ومن الثابت كذلك في سيرته الشخصية صلى الله عليه وسلم واشتهاره بالاستقامة والتعفف عن الفاحشة والتصريف الشائن الحرام للشهوة، رغم امتلاء المجتمع الجاهلي بشرائح من الزانيات اللاتي كانت لهن بيوت يستقبلن فيها الزناة ويضعن عليها "رايات" ليعرفها طلاب المتع المحرمة.
ومع هذا -مع توفر أسباب الانحراف والسقوط في الفاحشة في مجتمع مكة- لم يعرف عن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم إلا التعفف والطهارة بين جميع قرنائه، ذلك لأن عين السماء كانت تحرسه وتصرف عنه كيد الشيطان.
وفي هذا الكتاب حديث عن زوجات الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم: خديجة بنت خويلد، سودة بنت زمعة، عائشة بنت الصديق، حفصة بنت عمر الخطاب، زينب بنت خزيمة الهلالية، كما وفيه توقف عند سيرة بعض بناته رضي الله عنهم: زينب، فاطمة الزهراء رقية.
