يشكل الماضي موضوعاً للقص في "زهراء الأندلس" قصص و..." يستقي منه أمين الباشا الوقائع والأحداث، ويعيد تشكيلها وفق مقتضيات الفن الروائي، فتغدو الحكايا تاريخاً فنياً لهذا الماضي.
في هذا العمل قصة حياة جديرة بأن تستعاد وتقرأ، وتوضح موقف كاتب مثقف من مجتمعه وتبرز مقدرة خفية قصصية إلى حد كبير، تريح من يقرأها لأنها تستند إلى الإعتراف.
تبدأ الحكاية على مستوى السرد، من مكان محدد "شارع فوش" قرب مطعم مروش ببيروت، وزمان مضى عندمت كان المؤلف في العاشرة من عمره أو أقل، يحلَم بالسفر من مرفأ بيروت "كنت قد قررت أني سأسافر إلى حيث تريد هذه الباخرة، مضى الوقت وتأخرت في العودة إلى مكتب والدي، لعله كان يبحث عني؟ لعلَ أمي كانت تولول؟ (...) قلت لنفسي لن أدفع ثمن التذكرة، فرحت أتنقل قافزاً، من مدخل إلى مدخل، إلى أن وصل الترامواي إلى محطة الناصرة فنزلت. وكان صوت المؤذن يعلن الغروب (...)". وبين البداية والنهاية يعرض المؤلف دونما تسلسل لقطات وجوانب متعددة من حياته، فيقفز من ذكرى إلى ذكرى، ومن مكان إلى آخر، ومن زمن إلى آخر، ويتوقف عند ذكريات الحرب ويعرض لأجواء بيروت النابضة بالحياة، من سينما ومسرح وفن وموسيقا، وصحبة "للأصدقاء، وجلسات سمرٍ، وفرح، وحبَ.
تحت عنوان "كي لا أنسى" نقرأ للمؤلف: اكتب لئلا أنسى، أكتب ما لا أنساه، ما أقوله ليس سوى ما هو على لساني، بعض كلمات مركبة تتدحرج لتصير خيطاً طويلاً مغزولاً من أحرف، وأحرف يمسك بعضها بعضاً لتقول شيئاً يبقى في الحنجرة، في انتظار الخروج إلى الهواء والضياع فيه، أكتب لأجد ما لم أستطيع قوله بالصوت، بالفم الملآن، أقول كل ما أريد قوله (...)...
