يشكّل هذا الكتاب رحلة إيمانية في رحاب الله تنطلق من تجربة شخصية عاشها المؤلف، وأراد نقلها إلى القارىء عبر "مرآة على جبل قاف" يهدف من ورائها إلى تربية وتهذيب النفس البشرية والإبتعاد بها عن كل القيم السلبية، والإتجاه صوب القيم الروحية التي تنمّي حب الله فينا، وحب الناس. فالمؤلف يرى أن "الحب لا يتجزأ ... وحب الإنسان لله يبدأ بحب الإنسان للإنسان وإذ ينضج هذا الحب في المتحابين على السواء ويتلاقى الحبان يصبح المتحابان وقد شهد كل منهما وجه الحبيب الأعلى في وجه حبيبه". والمقصود بذلك وجه الحبيب الإلهي. عند ذلك عرف المؤلف كما يقول: "فعرفني معنى الإنسانية الحق التي أبدع ومعنى الزوجية الحق التي أراد ومعنى الصحبة الحق التي هي أسُّ كل خيرٍ وكل فضيلة.
من هنا تبدأ قصة الأشعار – يتابع المؤلف – التي تدور حول الحبّ في هذا الكتاب، فإنها بدأت بحب إلهي تجلى في حب إنساني هو حب أسميه هنا حباً ليلاوياً نسبةً إلى تلك الزوجة الحبية المحبة التي ساقني إليها الحبيب الأعلى كي لا أكفر بالإنسان بعد أن كدت أن أكفر به".
يضم الكتاب مقالات متنوعة تدور حول العشق الإلهي بالإضافة إلى أشعار دينية، وقبسات وحكم وإرشادات ذات معاني ودلالات تربوية وإيمانية وروحانية، جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "فلوات الضيق" ، " إبتهال إلى النور" ، "الثورة" ، "أغنية الحب" ، وعناوين أخرى.
