لقد نفدت الطبعتان الأولى والثانية من هذا الكتاب عد أن أصبحت أغلب الجمعيات والفرق الكشفية في البلاد العربية تعتمده، وتتمشى عليه، نظراً لما يحمل بين دفتيه من مبادئ وتعاليم صالحة لتدريس مطاليب الدرجة الثانية. وهذا الإقبال الذي صادفه هذا الكتيب قد شجع المؤلف لإعادة نشره في طبعة ثالثة بعد أن أدخل عليه عدداً من الرسوم والإيضاحات الجديدة.
ولا حاجة بعد ذلك أن نقول أن ما يضمه بين دفتيه ما هو إلا خلاصة لمطاليب الدرجة الثانية التي أقرتها المؤسسات الكشفية والتي أصبحت مرجعاً صالحاً يعتمد عليه.
وقد كان لكتب، الكشفية للفتيان، الكشاف الراقي، اختبارات كشافة، والمخيم، مصدراً اعتمد عليه المؤلف بعد أن أضاف إليها كثيراً من الاختبارات الشخصية التي مرت به أثناء خدمته في هذا الحقل، فجاء هذا الكتاب يضم إلى جانب نظرياته طرقاً عملية تساعد كل كشاف على اجتياز المرحلة الثانية بثبات ونجاح.
