يُشكّل هذا المجموع أهمية بالغة بالنسبة إلى تاريخ عسير، حيث سجّل الشيخ الحسن بن علي الحفظي رؤيته حيال أنساب قبائل منطقة عسير، كما ذكر العديد من الفوائد، والمعلومات الجغرافية للمنطقة، واشتمل مجموعه هذا على معلوماتٍ تتعلق بالتاريخ السياسي لعسير في عصرها الحديث خلال الفترة التاريخية الممتدة من عام 1215هـ - 1800م حتى عام 1288هــ - 1871م، كما أنه ضمّن هذا المجموع رسائل عديدة، ذات موضوعات مختلفة، فضلاً عن القصائد والأبيات الشعرية التي قيلت في مناسبات مختلفة، علاوة على إيراده لعددٍ من تراجم علماء آل الحفظي.
والجدير ذكره أن الشيخ الحفظي في تدوينه لهذا المجموع كان يركنُ في معلوماته إلى ذلك التراث الضخم الذي أنتجه أسلافه علماء آل الحفظي، والذي كان يتوزُع بين المخطوطات، والوثائق، والرسائل المكتوبة على مدى حوالي ثلاثمائة عام، ما يجعل من هذا المجموع يحملُ أهمية مُضافة، وقيمة علمية فائقة لدى المهتمين بتاريخ عسير.
