وعليه يعد هذا الكتاب دعوة للتعرف على التفكير الجانبي وهو أحد المهارات الذهنية المتمزة في التفكير؛ والتي بمقتضاها يمكن الوصول إلى نتائج أو حلول جديدة وغير متوقعة للمشكلات التي تواجه الإنسان، وهي مهارة لأنه من الممكن اكتسابها عن طريق التدريب والمران، ويعتمد التفكير الجانبي على تجاوز الطريقة التقليدية في التفكير والنظر للظاهرة محل البحث من زاوية جديدة؛ تكون في الغالب زاوية قريبة ومباشرة؛ وهي من فرط قربها ومباشرتها لا ينظر إليها الفرد صاحب النظرة التقليدية في التفكير؛ تلك النظرة المنطقية المستقيمة المعتمدة على تسلسلة المقدمات والنتائج. فهي تحول من المركز إلى الأطراف؛ ومن الأهم إلى الأقل أهمية.
