إن حقيقة أن ليس ثمة هويات محدّدة، وأن ما تعارفنا على تسميته بإسم هوية، انما هي تركيبة تُفكّك ويعاد تركيبها على نحو مضطرد؛ الأمر الذي ينبذ من دائرة الجدوى سياسات الهوية باعتبارها غير ذات صلة بالموضوع. ناهيك بأن جماعة "المهمّشين" الذين ما برحوا يجاهدون لإثبات ذواتهم لن يسعهم القبول بأن كل شيء، بما في ذلك أوضاعهم الشخصية، ليس إلاّ "حذلقة لفظية"؛ وهو ما تذكّرهم به، يومياً، جماعة المتسلطين على العالم؛ وعليه، فإن هذه الحالة الشائكة والعسيرة. لكن، ومهما يكن وجه الأمر، فقد يتحوّل، من يدري، مفهوم "العقل والإنسانية خارج دائرة الأنماط الجنسية" حقيقة قائمة، وإن بدا في عصرنا هذا حالة مثالية بعيدة المنال. ولكن من ذا يسعه لومنا حتى يومنا هذا سعينا للبحث عن تاريخ طبع الجنس، نظريته وفلسفته.
