يضم هذا الكتاب بين دفتيه رسائل شريفة مباركة خطها العلامة "مولاي العربي الدرقاوي الحسني المتوفي سنة (1239هـ) إمام الطريقتين وشيخ المذهبين وصية لمريديه، بل وصايا ورسائل للصوفية في كافة الآفاق إلى قيام الساعة، وفيها يبين المؤلف بعبارات بسيطة واضحة أهم معالم الطريقة الصوفية بدءاً بحقيقة النفس، وحقيقة الدنيا وحقيقة الزهد، وحقيقة التصوف، وحقيقة الذكر، إلى ما هنالك من معالم لا يستغنى عنها السالك والمتجرد والمريد، إضافة إلى إرشادات وتوجيهات للمربين والمريدين تنفعهم في الدنيا والآخرة، وتحثهم على ما هم عليه من خير وتختصر لهم الطريق الموصل إلى الله، وهو من خلال ذلك يجتهد في الرد على المنحرفين والمغالين، داعياً إياهم إلى الصواب والالتزام بما جاء في السنة والكتاب، ومن ثم يدافع عبر هذين المصدرين الأصليين عن منهج الصوفية ضارباً أقوال المعاندين والمثبطين بعرض الحائط بالحجة والدليل.
ولأهمية هذه الرسائل اعتنى المحقق "بسام محمد بارود" بخدمة هذه الرسائل محققاً مضمونها. وبالرجوع إلى عمله نجد أنه يتجلى بـ: أولاً مقابلة النصوص بين النسختين المغربية والمشرقية واستكمال ما سقط من الناسخ سهداً. ثانياً: عزو الآيات والشواهد القرآنية إلى سورها الكريمة. ثالثاً: تخريج الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة من مصادرها ومظانها في كتب الحديث. رابعاً: تدوين ترجمة للأعلام الواردة في الرسائل وهذا من الأهمية بمكان حيث أن الكثير من علام المغرب ربما تكون غير معروفة لدى المشارقة نتيجة للبعد الجغرافي والمكاني.
