Book Description
مزاحم شاعر بدوي فصيح إسلامي، صاحب قصيد، كان في زمن جرير والفرزدق، وسنة وفاة كليهما 110هـ.
وجعله ابن سلاّم على رأس الطبقة العاشرة من الشعراء الإسلاميين، وهم: مزاحم بن الحارث العُقيليّ، ويزيد من الطَّثرية، وأبو دُاود الرُّؤاسي، والقحيف بن سليم العُقيليّ.
وقالَ: كان رجلاً غزِلاً، وكان شجاعاً، وكان شديدَ أَسْرِ الشِّعرِ حُلْوَهُ، وكان مع رِقَّة شعره صَعْبَ الشعر هجّاءً وصّافاً، (طبقات فحول الشعراء 769- 770).
ولعلّ إتفاق شهادة جرير والفرزدق وذي الرُّمَّة خير دليل على شاعريته، فقد رُويَ أنَّ الفرزدق دخل على عبد الملك بن مروان، فقال له: يا فرزدق أتعرف أحداً أشعرَ منك؟ قال: لا، إلاّ غُلاماً من بني عُقَيْل، يركب أعجاز الإبل، وينعتُ الفلواتِ فيجيد، ثمّ جاءه جرير فسأله عن مثل ما سألَ عنه الفرزدق فأجابه بجوابه، فلم يلبث أن جاءَه ذو الرُّمَّة فقال له: أنتَ أشعرُ الناس؟ قال: لا، ولكنْ غلامٌ من بني عُقيل يُقالُ له مُزاحم يسكن الرُّوضات، يقولُ وحشيّاً من الشعر لا يُقدرُ على مثله.
