يرث ابن طحان شاب عن أبيه هراً، فيشعر بالأسى، ويقول: "ما نفع الهر؟" لكن لذلك الهر قوى عجيبة، فهو يتكلم ويلبس طاقية وجزمة ويحمل كيساً، بل هو يحتال ويختال، ويعِدُ سيده الشاب ابن الطحان أن يجعل منه أميراً خطيراً. ما سر الكيس والجزمة؟ وما سر أمير كرباس؟ لِمَ تظاهر ابن الطحان الشاب بالغرق؟ ما الذي أرعب المزارعين في طريق العربات؟ وأخيراً كيف كانت المواجهة بين الهر والمارد الشرير الذي يستطيع أن يتحوّل إلى هيئة أشرس الحيوانات؟ قصة مشوقة تناقلتها الأجيال وأحبها الصغار والكبار.
