منذ أن خلق الله تعالى الإنسان وهو يسعى إلى التقدم والإزدهار ويبحث عن ذلك الأمر بشتى الوسائل والطرق، ويستخدم في سبيل تحقيقه أهدافه تلك كل التقنيات المتاحة سواء كانت بسيطة أو معقدة، وكل ذلك يصب في معين واحد، وهو التربية والتنشئة للأجيال القادمة، حتى تتمكن هذه الأجيال من أن تعي العالم من حولها، وأن تعي أيضاً متغيرات الحياة الكثيرة التي نعيش فيها ونتعامل معها، فالناس في هذا الكون يشكلون جسماً واحداً وكياناً واحداً تمتد جميع أعضائه في بنائه وبهذا يتميز الإنسان عن غيره من سائر المخلوقات التي أوجدها الله سبحانه وتعالى.
"التنشئة الإجتماعية" هي التي تغرس في نفوس الأفراد إنتماءهم لمجتمعاتهم وأفراد تلك المجتمعات، كما أنه حدد سلوكهم من خلال تكيفهم الإجتماعي وهي تختلف بإختلاف المجتمعات، لأن الرابط الذي يربط الأفراد بالمجتمعات يختلف من مجتمع إلى آخر فقد يكون الرابط دينياً أو فكرياً أو إجتماعياً أو سياسياً أو إقتصادياً أو تربوياً، وبذا تتميز المجتمعات عن غيرها.
"التنشئة الإجتماعية" هي آية تستخدم في تنمية سلوك الفرد وهي المدى المقبول طبقاً لمعايير الجماعة التي ينشأ فيها، وهذه العملية لا تنتهي بل هي دائمة مستمرة ما استمرت الحياة، وهذا الكتاب يتحدث المؤلف عن موضوع التنشئة الإجتماعية متناولاً فيه مدخل إلى التنشئة الإجتماعية، ويتطرق إلى تعريفها، وأبعادها وأهدافها، وأشكالها، وشروطها، والمراحل التي تمر بها، وخصائصها وأطوارها، وعناصرها، وسماتها.
ويتحدث أيضاً عن علاقة التنشئة الإجتماعية بالميادين الأخرى من عوامل مؤثرة في النمو إلى العوامل الوراثية، والعوامل البيولوجية والعوامل البيئية، وكما سينتقل الكتاب منه إلى الحديث عن التنشئة الإجتماعية وعلاقتها بالعلوم الأخرى مثل، علم الإنسان، وعلم الإجتماع، وعلم النفس.
