لقد بدأ الإمام الخميني في مشروعه لتوضيح إسلامية الحكم وجدليته أو صراعه مع الاستبداد المرتبطة بالاستعمار والمقدمات التي مهدت لهزيمته من إيران، بالاعتماد على دور الجماهير المؤمنة به. و قد جاءت قيادة الإمام وطرحه لهذه الأفكار في لحظة تاريخية مناسبة وواضحة، أكثر من أي وقت مضى، ترافقت مع عجز المذاهب الفكرية الأخرى في تقديم حلول لإنقاذ المجتمعات البشرية والإنسانية. فبعد فترة من الإعلان عن إقصاء الدين من المعترك الاجتماعي والمصيري للبشرية، وانهماك هذه البشرية في إدارة حياتها استناداً إلى العقل المجرد والمحدد بالزمان والمكان والمقطوع عن البعد الغيبي، فقاد الخميني حركته، وغايتها استعادة تحكم البشر بمصائرهم.
لقد كان هدف ثورة الخميني في بعدها السياسي، إسقاط الحكومة السلطوية التي لم يضارع تبعيتها المذلة المشينة للغرب إلا تجاهلها لمصالح أبناء الشعب وابتعادها عن ثقافة المجتمع الأصلية. أما في بعدها الروحي فكان هدف الإمام العمل على إقامة حكومة إسلامية تتوخى نشر الفضائل وتنمية القيم الإنسانية وترسيخها في نفوس أبناء المجتمع البشري، فضلاً عن تحقيق أعلى حد ممكن من العدالة الاجتماعية.
الإمام الخميني، صاحب مشروع نظام سياسي في الإسلام المعاصر، يرتكز في قيادته على الشجاعة التي كان يتحلى بها إضافة إلى مدة خمسة عشر عاماً قضاها في المنفى بسبب ثباته الفكري، ثم توليه قيادة الثورة الإسلامية الشعبية. وتعتبر دراسة أفكار قائد كهذا وسيلة هامة ودقيقة في دراسة التطورات الفكرية في إيران المعاصرة.
وفي هذا الكتيب إطلالة على فكر الخميني لناحية موضوعية مسلمة السلطة.
