هذا الكتاب جاء ليجيب عن مسألة صوت المرأة وهل هو عورة أم لا؟، وقد التزم مؤلفه استقصاء أقوال العلماء وأدلتهم مع مناقشتها واختيار الراجح منها بعيداً عن الاستطرادات.
قام المؤلف بتحرير محل النزاع في المسألة، ذاكراً ما اتفق عليه العلماء وما اختلفوا فيه في هذه المسألة، مستعرضاً أدلة كل الأقوال من الكتاب والسنة وأقوال أهل العلم من الصحابة وغيرهم. كما بين المؤلف سبب الخلاف بين العلماء في هذه المسألة، وقام بالجمع والموازنة بين الأدلة والترجيح بين الأقوال وقد رجح المؤلف أن رفع صوت المرأة عورة وأنه يجوز حديثها الى الرجل بشرط الاقتصار على قدر الحاجة وأمن الفتنة، ثم بيَّن بعد ذلك ثمرة البحث بالأمثلة الواقعية.
