بطل هذه القصة قرد صغير اسمه فلفل، ولد في الغابة وحمله الصيادون إلى حديقة للحيوانات تقع في مدينة كبيرة. مرت الأيام على فلفل وهو يعيش في الحديقة، سجيناً بين قضبان القفص، يأكل الفستق الذي يرميه له المتفرجون والفاكهة التي يجلبها له حارس الحديقة. كان فلفل يحلم بالحرية، بالشوارع، بالبرية، وبالأشجار، هذا الحلم كان يراوده دائماً، ولكن كيف السبيل إلى تحقيقه؟ وهل سيستطيع الهرب في قفصه الحديدي؟ كيف؟ وهل للحرية طعم آخر؟ أم أنها سجن كبير؟ هذا ما سيقرأه الطفل في هذه القصة المصورة من سلسلة "فلفل العفريت". هذه السلسلة التي اتخذت على عاتقها تعليم الطفل المبادئ الأخلاقية السامية بأسلوب بسيط سهل الفهم على كل طفل ناشئ.
