هذا كتاب "ظفر الأماني" للعالم "محمد عبد الحلي اللكنوي" الذي شرح به " مختصر السيد الشريف الجرجاني" في مصطلح الحديث ولعل هذا الشرح هو آخر ما ألفه اللكنوي قبل وفاته بنحو شهر ونصف، وقد أحسن في شرح هذا المختصر، فأسهب فيه وأطال، وأجاد في تسهيل العويص وتبيين المعضل والشائك، وأطنب في المباحث المفيدة. أما "المختصر" المذكور، فهو للإمام السيد الشريف علي بن محمد الجرجاني، اختصره من كتاب "الخلاصة في أصول الحديث" لشرف الدين حسن بن محمد الطيبي المتوفى سنة 749هـ.
وهذا الكتاب الخلاصة مختصر كل مقدمة وأربعة أبواب وخاتمة، ذكر الطيبي أنه لخصه من "علوم الحديث" لابن الصلاح، و"مختصر" النووي والقاضي ابن جماعة، وأضاف إلى ذلك زيادات مهمة من جامع الأصول وغيره. فيتبين مما سبق أن مختصر الشريف الجرجاني هو خلاصة كتب أربعة:مقدمة ابن الصلاح، وتقريب النووي، ومختصر ابن جماعة المسمى بالمنهل الروى، وخلاصة الطيبي، وقد كان هذا المختصر بحاجة ماسة إلى الشرح، فتصدى لهذه المهمة الإمام اللكنوي، فأفاد وأجاد، وسمى شرحه "ظفر الأماني بشرح مختصر السيد الشريف الجرجاني" وحققت في آخر هذا الشرح نسبة هذا المختصر إلى السيد الشريف ورد ما قيل من نسبته إلى كمال الدين ابن أبي شريف تلمذ الكمال ابن الهمام وما قيل من نسبته إلى السيد جمال الدين المحدث.
كتاب في علم مصطلح الحديث، عندما كثر التأليف في علم الحديث ومصطلحه وكثرة التفاصيل كان لا بد من مختصر يعين الطالب على الفهم والعالم على تنظيم أفكاره، فكثرت المختصرات إلا أن مختصر الجرجاني كان أهم هذه المختصرات وأجلها قدرا، وهذا واضح من شهرته العظيمة عند أهل العلم، ومما زاد هذا الكتاب أهمية وفضلا أن قام الشيخ اللكنوي بشرحه رغم تعدد الشروح إلا أنه كان أفضله وأدقها . وقد تم تحقيق الكتاب زيادة في الفائدة والتوثيق.
