تماماَ كما يشي العنوان ببحر من اللهب يأتي ديوان وهيب عجمي "بحر اللهب" متماشياً مع عنوانه حاملاً في ثناياه حب الوطن والمدافعين عن مداميكه، والذين رووا بدمائهم الطاهرة ترابه, هو كتاب يهديه "... إلى الذين لا نشعر بالحياة الجميلة إلا معهم: عيونهم تحدَق في البعيد، وعيوننا تحدَق بهم، قلوبهم تشدهم لتحقيق المستحيل، وقلوبنا معلقة بأيديهم كالشموع والمصابيح، وإذا هوت نيازكهم مشعة منطفئة سقطت قلوبنا على أيديهم، وتحطمت مصابيح ظلماتنا يغيبون هم، فتنطفئ عيوننا وتنزف دماً في بحر اللهب". وفي هذا العمل يعكس وهيب عجمي هماً صادقاً يكابد قضايا وطنه هي قصائد تحكي قصة شعب مقاوم وجيش باسل في صراع مرير عدو لا يرحم، فكان الشعر مرآة تجسد بالحبر دم الشهداء، وآمال الناس وآلامهم. في قصيدة بعنوان (وطني عظيم) يقول: "وطني عظيم واسمة لبنان، بلغ العلا ورصيده الإيمان (...)/ فتزوجت منك الطوائف كلها، وبكل حبك تسعد الأديان/ ناديت في الأعراب هيَا فافرحوا، لا لن يهز عروشكم طغيان(...) / إن الشهيد متوج بكرامةٍ، ترقى إلى شرف الغذا وتصان".
يضم الديوان ما يقارب الثلاثين قصيدة في الشعر الموزون المقفى نذكر منها: "الحب ديني"، "عيتا"، "بكفها البحر"، "وابصم بكف البحر"، "خيوط المودة"....الخ.
