ولأن الإنسان مفكر لا يمكن أن يعيش في فراغ فإن سعيه دائم التواصل في التساؤل والبحث عن الأجوبة للوصول غلى الحقائق والقناعات والمعرفة. حركة الفكر المتسائل الباحث تصل بالإنسان دوماً إلى أجوبة غالباً ما تنير الطريق التي يسكلها الإنسان في سعيه للوصول إلى هدفه وتحقيق ما يريده، فرداً ومجتمعياً، شخصاً أو متحداً إنسانياً. يبني حياته ويحقق وجوده.
ولقد اختار الكاتب خمسة أشخاص رأى أنهم طبعوا حياته بأكثر من أثر من خلال فكرهم بحيث أضؤوا له بعض جوانب دربه، فكانت له خلال رحلة حياته ملاحظات لم يجد حرجاً في إيرادها وتسليط الضوء عليها، لعل قارئها يرى فيها ما يعينه ويحفزه على إيراد المزيد من هذه الأسئلة فوق ما أورده المؤلف.
