أورد الإمام الكبير فخر الدين النجفي في هذا الكتاب ما استطرفه من فضائل أهل البيت (عليهم السلام) ومراثيهم، وذكر مصائبهم وتعازيهم، وجعله مرتباً على عشرين مجلساً وأبواباً حيث تناول في المجلس الأول: الليلة الأولى من عشر المحرم الموضوعات التالية:
شهادة الأئمة وأبنائهم وأصحابهم (عليهم السلام).
المنصور سل سيفه في آل الرسول (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
الرشيد يقتل أولاد الرسول (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
كرامة وعظمة الزهراء عند الله عز وجل.
محشر فاطمة الزهراء (عليها السلام) يوم القيامة.
بكاء السيدة فاطمة (عليها السلام) عند رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
وقدم في المجلس الثاني اليوم الأول من عشر المحرم:
الفوز بالجنة للباكين على الإمام الحسين (عليه السلام).
صرخة فاطمة الزهراء (عليها السلام) يوم القيامة.
شهداء أهل البيت (عليهم السلام).
حديث الإمام الصادق (عليه السلام) عن الإمام الحسين(عليه السلام).
اما المجلس الثالث والواقع في الليلة الثانية من عشر المحرم فيتحدث عن:
قصة المرأة المؤمنة.
الوحي الإلهي للأنبياء في أرض كربلاء.
مكرمة الإمام الحسين (عليه السلام) عند الله عز وجل.
وتحدثوا في المجلس الرابع اليوم الثاني من عشر المحرم عن:
ملائكة السماء تعزي الرسول بالحسين (عليه السلام).
النصراني ورأس الحسين (عليه السلام) أمام يزيد.
الثواب العظيم لزوار الإمام الحسين (عليه السلام).
"كربلاء" الأرض المباركة.
فيما تناول في المجلس الخامس هي الليلة الثالثة من عشر المحرم موضوع الجمال اللعين في كربلاء.
وهكذا توالت المجالس وتعددت الموضوعات التي تحدث عنها والتي ندر جمعها في فلك واقعة كربلاء.
