كوكب الأرض هو الكوكب الوحيد المعروف الذي أنعم الله عليه بالحياة، وبجميع متطلباتها وجهل به نظاماً حياتياً متكاملاً يخدم فيما يخدم مصلحة الإنسان. ونتيجة لتزايد السكان هذا الكوكب ولتزايد قدرتهم على إحداث تغييرات أساسية في طبيعته، ونتيجة لفوضى تعامل البشر مع عناصر الطبيعة، بدأت هذه العناصر تتراجع وتتغير حتى أصبح مستقبل حياة الإنسان على الأرض مهدداً بالأخطار.
الأردن، وهو يحتل جزءاً ولو صغيراً من سطح الكرة الأرضية، يتعرض أيضاًَ لهذه الأخطار، فالأرض الزراعية مصدر الغذاء تضيع بالتدريج نتيجة لانحراف تربتها ولزحف العمران إليها. الأحواض والمصادر المائية تتلوث وتتملح أو تنضب نتيجة لسوء استغلالها والتعامل معها. الغابات والمراعي تفقد غطاءها الأخضر وتفقد قدرتها على العطاء تحت ضغط الرعي الجائر والتحطيب. الهواء يتلوث بما تفرزه السيارات والمداخل. الأحياء البرية من نبات وحيوان تتناقص وتصبح أنواعها مهددة بالانقراض. وتكون حصيلة ذلك كله التصحر.
وبما أن مستقبل الإنسان يعتمد على قدرة الطبيعة على العطاء، يصبح هذا المستقبل معرضاً للأخطار نتيجة تراجع عناصر الطبيعة وزحف الصحراء. وهكذا راحت مؤسسات حماية الطبيعية تعمل لتصويب تعامل الإنسان مع الطبيعة، لضمان استمرار عطائها وقدرتها على توفير الحياة والصحة لهذا الجيل ولأجيال المستقبل.
وكانت أهم وأنجح وسائل التصويب، دائماً، هي نقل رسالة حماية الطبيعة إلى الأجيال الصاعدة. وذلك عبر صياغة قصص تربوية تثقيفية توضح الأخطار التي تصيب البيئة وتشرح ما يجب على الإنسان القيام به للحفاظ عليها. في هذا الإطار تأتي هذه القصة الطريفة المسلية والموجهة للأطفال والتي تحمل في طياتها توجهات إصلاحية وإرشادية تساعد في الحفاظ على البيئة والتقليل من مخاطر الإنسان عليها. ولتحقيق هذه القصة هدفها قام المؤلف وهو "مؤنس الرزاز" بصياغتها بأسلوب بسيط ميسر يسهل بأثر الولد ويقنعه بما يطمح إلى شرحه من معلومات.
