تحتل هذه الدراسة محاولة للوقوف على كيفية تعامل الفكر العربي المعاصر مع الفكر الغربي من خلال فلسفة ميشيل فوكو، وذلك بعد طرح لسؤال متمحور حول طبيعة هذا الحضور وكيف تم التعامل معه؟ وقد تمت دراسة ذلك في مستويين: مستوى الترجمة والأبحاث الأكاديمية والجامعية، ومستوى التوظيف والتعامل والقراءة والتأويل. والهدف من دراسة هذا الموضوع هو محاولة الإمساك بطريقة فهمنا وتعاملنا مع النص الآخر، والوعي لهذه العلاقة من خلال إدراك حدودهما فالآخر ونصه الذي يسكننا عبر مختلف الوسائل والوسائط والإمكانيات، يفرضان علينا بالدرجة الأولى، وفي المقام الأول، الوقوف على كيفية تعرفنا عليه وعلى حدود هذه المعرفة وعلى جدواها وما يمكن أن نستفيده من تجربته ومناهجه وطرائقه.
