إن إتساع مجالات الحياة وعلومها في الصحة والبيئة والرياضة والسياسة والتكنولوجيا وغيرها وإنتشار التعليم وإتساع مجالاته وإزدياد الحاجة إلى كوادر متعلمة ومثقفة ومتخصصة تخصص علمي وعملي دقيق كل هذا ساعد على ولادة الإعلام المتخصص الذي تطلب الرعاية الجادة له لكون تقدم الحياة وتطور تحدياتها جعل الإعلام عامةً غير قادر على مواجهة تلك التحديات الجديدة المتمثلة بالتطور التكنولوجي والعلمي والنمو الإقتصادي والسكاني الهائل وإنتشار التعليم بأنواعه وزيادة الثقافة وظهور أنواع عدة للصحافة منها صحافة الأقليات وإنتشار الصحافة الشعبية بشكل ملموس وواضح فضلاً عن ظهور وتأسيس المؤسسات الإعلامية، أن هذه التحديات عدّت أسباباً جوهرية لبروز الإعلام المتخصص.
