يحتوي هذا الكتاب على أجوبة عن 38 سؤالاً حول العقائد المسيحية، وهو يخلص لفكرة مؤادها أن الأناجيل ليست قطعاً باعتراف المسيحيين أنفسهم هي الكتاب المنزل على السيد المسيح عليه السلام، وإنما هي مجرد سرد تاريخي، وقصص معروضة من غير توثيق علمين كتبها بعض رجال الدين المسيحي، في فترة زمنية متأخرة عن غياب المسيح عليه السلام، إما في النصف الثاني من المائة الأول بعد الميلاد أو فيما بعد ذلك، وبعض كاتبي الأناجيل مثل "لوقا" لم يكونوا من تلاميذ المسيح ولا من تلامذة الحواريين أصحاب المسيح.
وأدى وجود هذه الأناجيل وهي كثيرة اعتمد المسيحيون منها أربعة، إلى وجود ظاهرة واضحة من التعارض والاختلاف والتناقض، كاختلاف الأناجيل في إيراد قواعد الدستور المسيحي، حتى يوم الدينونة وفي قصة صلب المسيح أيضاً، وفلسفة بنوة المسيح لله تعالى، وفي بعض الطقوس الكنسية مثل التعميد والعشاء الرباني وغير ذلك.
ويلاحظ أن الوثنية الرومانية أثرت في تكوين عقائد المسيحية وكذلك الفلسفة اليونانية والآرامية التي أثرت تأثيراً واضحاً في اعتماد عقيدة التثليث، وفي تغليب الطبيعة الناسونية أو الإلهية للمسيح على الطبيعة البشرية، وفي تنازل الإله عن سلطانه وصلاحياته للمسيح كحساب البشر وحرية إدخال الجنة وفداء الأتباع بالصلب.
