يعنى خبراء التربية والتعليم بالوسائل والطرق التي تساعد على غرس المفاهيم والمعلومات الأساسية في أذهان التلاميذ الصغار-وهي عملية تتطلب تركيزاً للأفكار الأساسية التي يشكل تعلمها قاعدة للانطلاق في مراحل أخرى متقدمة. ولعل ما تقدمه مكتبة لبنان من سلسلة موسوعات موجهة إلى النشء الجديد مما يصب في هدف خدمة التعليم والمتعلمين لا سيما وأن المكتبة العربية تفتقر إلى هذا النوع من الموسوعات الذى يراعي المرحلة العمرية والتعليمية ويتواءم مع متطلبات الأطفال وحاجاتهم ومهاراتهم التي يجب أن تستغل استغلالاً مثالياً في عملية التعلم.
ومن هنا جاءت موسوعة الولى-أو الكلمات الأساسية-لتنتقل بأسلوب متسلسل ومتدرج من مرحلة إلى أخرى. فالدروس الأولى تركز على تعليم الطفل الكلمات الإنكليزية التي تتعلق به كالوجه، واليد والشعر والأظافر وغير ذلك، وما أن يكتب هذه المعلومات حتى تنتقل به إلى ما يتعلق بحاجياته وأغراضه كالثياب والأدوات المنزلية كما تعمل الموسوعة على ربط الطفل بما يحدث في بيئته الخارجية بعد أن يكون قد استكمل معرفة ما يدور في بيئته الخارجية لذا يشكل الدرس المتعلق بالحديقة مدخلاً جيداً لاستكمال خزانة الألفاظ والمفردات التي يحتاجها الطفل.
كما اختيرت بعض المواد لتكون جزءاً من الدروس المتقدمة إذ يكتسب الطفل مفردات جديدة تدور حول العدد والأدوات والسيارات ووسائل النقل وقد وضعت الكلمة الإنكليزية ومعها ما يقابلها باللغة العربية وزينت الموسوعة بالصور الملونة التي تضيف إلى عملية التعلم شيئاً من البهجة والمتعة وأخيراً زودت الموسوعة بمسردين أحدهما باللغة الإنكليزية والآخر باللغة العربية ووفق الحروف الهجائية المعتمدة في اللغتين وأشير أمام كل مفردة إلى رقم الصفحة التي وردت فيها وبذلك يسهل على المتعلم والموجه الرجوع إلى أي من الوحدات أو المفردات التي يحتاجها.
